Happy Anniversary, God!

July's Topic is "Understanding True Conversion" and how apt that my 4-year conversion date (God-iversary, as I like to say) of following Christ is today.

At first I thought the topic was a bit silly, simple, how could we spend a whole month on conversion? But last night I started reading the book "Beginnings" by Stephen Smallman as part of my studies, and wow, I may just be drinking the Fellows Kool-Aid but every book I read is better than the last.

I will write an ending blog post on this topic in a couple weeks, but I just want to say I feel incredibly grateful as I reflect on my testimony. I look back on the whole, many year, process and I feel lucky to have an exact conversion moment in my story that some others may not have. Not that having one makes me any better or worse than another follower of Christ, but on July 16th, every year (specifically at 10:30 pm), I celebrate with God.

Reading A.W. Tozer this month is tougher language to read (and I haven't quite figured out yet why this book is part of this month's topic....) but valuable none-the-less. And I'm really looking forward to reading more of "Beginnings".

Conversion isn't something you can achieve or will, but "the inward work of the Holy Spirit bringing us to a simple but genuine faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior." (Beginnings, pg. 23). I also look forward to taking what I'm learning this month and having a better understanding of how to help others in this process. I have a heart for the newer believers or those still questioning.

Thinking back to many defining moments in my journey of God seeking me, but specifically July 16th, 2021, driving in my car down Lake Shore Drive in an extremely broken state and I knew, "I'm yours. Show me the way." And I haven't looked back since.

Happy God-iversary.
